The Future of Networking

November 18, 2021 | FREE Admission

Many major business trends, including the wide-spread use of cloud, digital transformation, and the mainstream use of sophisticated analytics and artificial intelligence, are outpacing legacy infrastructures. We'll explore strategies, new technologies, and best practices to provide a secure, robust infrastructure that cost-effectively delivers the performance, flexibility, elasticity, scalability, and reduced management burden needed to support today's modern technologies. We'll cover topics such as converged infrastructures, SD-WANs, and Edge technologies.

Keynote: How Next-Gen Networking Drives Modern Business
Vladimir Galabov, Omdia
9:00AM - 9:30AM PT

Many major business trends, including the wide-spread use of cloud, digital transformation, and the mainstream use of sophisticated analytics and artificial intelligence techniques, are outpacing legacy infrastructures. We'll explore strategies, new technologies, and best practices to provide a secure, robust infrastructure that cost-effectively delivers the performance, flexibility, elasticity, scalability, and reduced management burden needed to support today's modern technologies. We'll cover topics such as hyperconverged infrastructures, SD-WANs, and Edge technologies and techniques to create a programmable network that enables real-time data processing.

Fireside Chat
9:35AM - 9:50AM PT
Kumar Ramachandran, Palo Alto Networks; Sal Salamone, Network Computing

Cloudifying the Enterprise Edge for Performance and Efficiency
9:55AM - 10:30AM PT
Manoj Sukumaran, Omdia; Steven SchuchartGlobalData Plc; Bill Mulligan, CNCF; Moderator: Chris Tozzi

Edge computing, where compute is moved closer to the user, such as in the enterprise branch office or on a device, is driving a re-think of the enterprise demilitarized zone (DMZ) and its connectivity to the cloud. Rather than a collection of individual appliances, the enterprise DMZ is moving to a cloud architecture using a shared compute infrastructure with software modules (virtual network functions, or VNFs), providing traditional DMZ functions such as a security, load balancing, SD-WAN, and WAN optimization. This session will highlight how this new perimeter-less enterprise architecture will allow for rapid deployment of new applications and increased performance.

Tech Talk: Network management, made easy
10:35AM - 10:50AM PT
Steve Petryschuk, Auvik
During this product demo, you’ll see how Auvik’s cloud-based network monitoring and management system can help your IT team modernize your network management, without overhauling your network.

What's Next for SD-WANs and SASE?
10:55AM - 11:30AM PT
Pascal Menezes, MEF; Dominika Koncewicz, Omdia; Moderator: Sal Salamone, Network Computing

SD-WANs have become the Swiss Army knife of networking, letting enterprise users leverage different transport services to securely connect sites and users. SASE complements SD-WAN by integrating networking and security into a centrally-managed service designed to meet the needs of modern applications and today's distributed work environments. Our experts will share their experiences with SD-WANs within their organizations, emphasizing how they have changed their overall approach to networking and what they hope to gain from SASE capability in the future.

Tech Talk: Public Cloud Firewalls to Secure Your Workloads
11:35AM - 11:40AM PT

Salman Syed, Palo Alto Networks
Watch this demo to see how easy it is to secure your workloads running on the cloud. Learn how to import labels and tags for policy rules and how to create a firewall rule applying threat prevention on any cloud.

How HCI Makes Edge Computing Simple and Secure
11:45AM - 12:20PM PT
Carrie Goetz, StrategITcom; Roy Illsley, Omdia; Dave Raffo, Evaluator Group; Moderator: Sue Troy, ITPro Today

The need for enterprises to improve business processes, save costs, and keep their employees safe has never been greater. At the same time, the nature of devices and applications is changing – data collection and real-time processing are becoming increasingly important in helping enterprises gain a competitive advantage and develop new products. As a result, latency and bandwidth are becoming key performance determinants, driving the need for more computing power to be placed closer to end users and machines. This poses unique security and management challenges that enterprises will need to solve. This session explores the growing need for computing and storage at the edge and how hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) can alleviate configuration, deployment, and management complexities.

Tech Talk: Chatsworth Products' Motive® CableManager
12:25PM - 12:30PM PT
David Richards, Chatsworth Products

In this short video, David Richards, Chatsworth Products’ (CPI) Product Manager of Open Systems, provides an in-depth and unique opportunity to get an up-close look at what makes CPI’s award-winning Motive®Cable Manager a one-of-a-kind solution that works to maximize your effort and optimize network availability... think tool-less accessories and an integral track system that allows you to place fiber or copper cable anywhere within your rack or cabinet while maintaining proper bend radius.

Transitioning from Monitoring to Observability
12:35PM - 1:10PM PT
Lee Walker, Park Place Technologies; Bruno Lucas, eir evo; Moderator: Sal Salamone, Network Computing

Observability is the next step for monitoring. It uses telemetry data about applications, devices, and infrastructure to ensure they perform properly and optimally. While monitoring focuses on finding out what is happening with a system, observability focuses on why things are happening. As such, many observability applications use prescriptive methods to go from reactive to proactive to automatic responses to alerts, triggers, and incidents. This session examines the industry's transition to observability and the challenges and benefits of using the technology.
