Gregory Smith will discuss how the consumerization of IT, cloud computing, virtualization, and social media are changing the IT enterprise and impacting IT governance. Cloud computing is moving forward rapidly with more and more organizations jumping onto private and public clouds, requiring CIOs to completely revamp their security, application integration, data center design and DRBC strategies. Mr. Smith will discuss how the Pew Charitable Trusts has deployed several cloud applications, revised their integration strategy and how they've embraced personal devices (BYOD) in the organization. Mr. Smith's new book - Straight to the Top: CIO Leadership in a Mobile, Social, and Cloud-based World, due out in 2013 (John Wiley & Sons), discusses many of these topics in more detail and includes cutting edge research and interviews with global IT and executive recruiting professionals. In conclusion, Mr. Smith will leave the audience with several strategy / governance recommendations as a result of shifting technology and business drivers.
