Once the lower layers are operating properly, it is time to focus our attention on the Network and Transport layers. As with the lower layers, if these layers of the OSI model are not operating properly, applications will appear slow or non-responsive. In this class we will look at the operation of the Internet Protocol and the Transmission Control Protocol. Specifically, we will look at a number of techniques for isolating problems and improving network throughput.
- Overview of the Internet Protocol Operation
- Troubleshooting Techniques for the Internet Protocol
- Overview of the Transmission Control Protocol Operation
- Troubleshooting Techniques for the Transmission Control Protocol
- Optimizing data transfers over Wide Area Network connections
