He served on the Coalition for Competitive Communications which achieved destruction of the Hawaiian Telephone monopoly a full year before the federal deregulation of the intraLATA communications market nationwide. Other jobs included a stop with Xerox as an interfacing specialist, a support manager for a Netware Value Added Reseller and eventually a stint as Senior Computer Scientist for the General Services Administration-Office of Information Security where he designed, built and supported secure data/video/voice communications systems around the globe. Currently serving as a communications researcher at the University of Hawaii School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology (SOEST). He is starting off on an adventure as the "Evangelist" for ThinLinX Corporation out of Brisbane Australia, makers of Thin Clients for the Microsoft RemoteFX and Citrix HDX environments. In this role he is responsible for all Broadcom Ethernet-based solutions including controller, switch, physical layer solutions, storage products, processors, security and automotive.
Prior to Broadcom, Ramaswami served as Vice President and General Manager of the Cloud Services and Switching Technology Group at Cisco Systems. Prior to Cisco, he served in various technical and leadership positions at Xros, Tellabs and IBM's T.J. Watson Research Center.
Ramaswami holds MS and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley and a B. Tech. degree from the Indian Institute of Technology in Madras.
Ramaswami holds 33 U.S. patents primarily in optical networking, and has coauthored a textbook, "Optical Networks: A Practical Perspective." He is a Fellow of the IEEE and a Distinguished Alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology in Madras.

In this role, he is responsible for ensuring the security of PayPal's 113 million users worldwide. Before joining PayPal, Michael was vice president of security and utility strategy at American Express, where he helped define the company's information-security program and directed its Internet technology strategy.
Previously, Michael was president of the Liberty Alliance, an open-standards consortium focused on identity management standards and guidelines. He was the driving force behind the introduction and standardization of the Alliance's federated identity concepts, and he also co-chaired its Identity Theft Prevention Working Group.
Michael was twice named one of the 50 most powerful people in networking by Network World magazine, has been listed as one of ITSecurity.com's top influencers in the security industry, and was recognized as the Information Security Executive of the year in 2010. He has started and boot-strapped a number of start-ups with breakthrough technology in high-performance distributed systems and image processing. John has been granted patents for RAID and distributed file system technology.
John began his career as an engineer at Raytheon Missile Systems, and holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Keynote Panelist - Eli Almog, Chief Technology Officer, CSC  Mr. Eli Almog joined CSCTrusted Cloud & Hosting Services in October 2011 and in his new role focuses on architecture, engendering and future direction the CSC Trusted Cloud. Mr. Almog’s career spans 25 years of sustained delivery of robust high scale infrastructure systems to create the most scalable solutions to meet a company’s computing needs. Most recently Mr. Almog served as Vice President R&D and Corporate Architect in the Office of the CTO for BMC Software, a leading enterprise software vendor. Over a 3 year tenure with BMC, Mr. Almog orchestrated a turnaround of the company’s second largest line of business (Service Assurance) and provided the technical vision for BMC’s entry into the cloud market.
Prior to joining BMC Software, Mr. Almog held multiple executive roles at Morgan Stanley. His experience ranges from design, engineering, integration and development of technical solutions for Unix/Windows and enterprise distributed management including monitoring and automated management of vendor products and custom in house developed solutions operating in large scale environments.
Following service as Captain in the Israeli Army, Mr. Almog earned his technical degree as a Practical Engineer with emphases in Computer Science and Data Processing from

She was also responsible for the acquisition of Packeteer Inc. Prior to Blue Coat, Bethany served as chief marketing officer with Mirapoint Incorporated in the email and email security market. Bethany also held management positions in product management, engineering development and operations at Cisco Systems and was responsible for Cisco’s initial channel products and supply chain design. Pearson is a product management and marketing professional with experience as a general manager and technologist at startups and Fortune 500 companies.
Prior to his role at HP, Pearson was senior vice president and general manager of the NetWeaver Product Group at SAP. During his tenure at SAP, he was responsible for managing the worldwide NetWeaver business group including working across business operations, marketing, product management, and development.
Pearson was also previously vice president of products at Gnip, a real-time social media data integration and intelligence provider, where he coordinated product development, marketing and sales.
